Metallic is based on gestural contour drawings of shifting crowds
of people. Footage of crowds is digitally recorded, gesturally drawn, scanned,
and then animated to mimic bodily movements. I am interested in using animation
to convey motion that is both bodily and uncanny, creating a sense of delight
and unease. While these forms appear to enter and exit autonomously, they also
create a border around our shape, establishing an animation that activates both
the physical and digital realms.
